The executive council of the TBA Construction Law Section is currently planning the section's annual forum, scheduled for January 2021. Watch for details on the date and format of the program. This year's programming will provide an in-depth legislative update in addition to a legal technology update related to remote mediations and depositions. Stay tuned for details.

The TBA Entertainment & Sports Law Section will present the second installment of its webcast series on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. The program, Recent Cases in Copyright and Entertainment Law, will focus on cases decided this year dealing with the Copyright Act and in the field of entertainment. Topics to be covered include statutes of limitations, who owns the law, whether tattoos on basketball players depicted in video games are protected, whether a state can be liable for copyright infringement and whether cartoon characters are protected by copyright. The program is certified for one general CLE credit.

The TBA General-Solo Section will hold its annual Fall FastTrack program virtually on Thursday, Nov. 19. Make plans now to join the TBA International Law Section for a virtual fall symposium Tuesday at 9 a.m. CDT. The theme of the 2020 HBCU Globalization Symposium is "Understanding, Developing and Implementing HBCU Globalization." The program will focus on HBCUs and the global market in understanding, developing and implementing equitable access to the benefits of international research outreach and economic growth. Speakers include faculty, administrators and practitioners from Nashville area HBCUs and private practice law firms. They will explore how global programs — such as education outreach, medical research, and other types of international business engagement — can be leveraged to spur economic growth in the United States. The program will provide five hours of general CLE credit.

The TBA’s 20th annual Health Law Primer and 32nd annual Health Law Forum kick off this week but there is still time to register. The primer will take place Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. CDT. The forum will take place Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. CDT each day. Both programs will provide a heightened virtual experience with live and on-demand sessions. The forum also includes roundtable discussions for practitioners to dig deeper into the issues presented.

Part of the Entertainment & Sports Law 2020 Webcast Series, They All Fall Down: Confederate Monument Removal Cases & Public Art Policy, is a one-hour webcast that will explore what place, if any, Confederate monuments have in the public sphere. Assistant professor of law at Belmont University College of Law Kristi Arth will provide an in-depth look at the lawsuits filed to prevent various monuments from being removed, outline emergent linguistic trends in the courts’ opinions related to public art policy and create a framework for how public art theory can better inform advocacy and judicial decision-making in these types of cases. The webcast will premiere on Dec. 2 from 3 to 4 p.m. CST and is worth one general CLE credit.

The TBA LGBT Section will host a virtual roundtable on Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 1 to 2 p.m. CST. This opportunity will feature ethics considerations for attorneys when working from home, an open discussion on issues affecting LGBT lawyers and staying sane in a pandemic. The event is free and open to all TBA members. For those who would like CLE credit, there will be a $45 course filing fee. Connection info will be sent the week of the program.
