Test your knowledge of recent malpractice and ethics issues during the Build a Stronger Firm Through Better Risk Management program. The TBA Real Estate Law Section, in conjunction with the Tennessee Land Title Association, will host the 2020 Hot Topics Forum on Nov. 13. The forum, which will be offered exclusively as a live virtual program, will run from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. CST. Attendees will hear presentations on case law updates, legislative updates, HOAs, commercial real estate, force majeure, multi-jurisdictional matters and the unauthorized practice of the law.

The TBA is hosting a virtual CLE series focused on individual cities' legal community, needs and interests. The series kicks off with a one-hour program for Clarksville area lawyers on Nov. 12. Speakers include Circuit Court Judge Kathryn Olita and Jamie Durrett with Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker. Topics include e-filing procedures being evaluated by Montgomery County, an update on court procedures, and litigation and virtual trials during the pandemic. A question and answer time will round out this live, interactive program.

The TBA Supreme Court Boot Camp is just around the corner! Join your colleagues on Nov. 4 beginning at 9 a.m. CST to observe real cases being argued in the Tennessee Supreme Court. Then join in a discussion about the preparation by the lawyers who provided the oral arguments. The program also will feature a judicial panel with former Tennessee Supreme Court Justices Gary Wade, Janice Holder and William Koch Jr., who will discuss judicial considerations and answer questions from attendees.

Produced by the TBA Public Education Committee, a new one-hour online CLE explores voting rights in Tennessee, including the case of Fisher v. Hargett, which deals with absentee voting in the 2020 election. Speakers include Committee Chair Amy Willoughby Bryant; Jacob Brown with Apperson Crump; Tricia Herzfeld with Branstetter, Stranch and Jennings; and Jeffrey Usman with the Belmont University College of Law. The committee also has developed an online resources page with information about registering to vote, finding polling places and tracking election results.

The Supreme Court Boot Camp, presented by the TBA Appellate Practice Section, will help attorneys to develop these skills. Participants will observe oral arguments in real cases before the court and then join in an analysis and discussion on preparation, presentation tips and considerations for deciding to seek review. The forum will take place virtually on Nov. 4 beginning at 9 a.m. CST and offer six CLE hours.
