The TBA’s Tort and Insurance Law Section will host its 2021 Winter Forum on Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. CST. The forum will provide an overview of the ethical issues that attorneys face in conducting investigations and interviewing current and former employees of an opposing corporate litigant. The program will also feature a discussion of emerging legal issues on the enforceability of arbitration agreements and provide recent legal developments involving claims for health care liability actions. The TBA’s highly regarded Estate Planning & Probate Forum will return this year as a virtual program on Feb. 26. This annual staple will feature legislative and ethics updates, a clerk and masters’ panel, and sessions on trust modifications, decanting and anticipated tax changes from the new Biden administration. The TBA’s Corporate Counsel section will host 2021 Knowledge Nibbles — Due Diligence on Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. CST. The program will examine the ways in which the pandemic has changed how buyers and sellers approach mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, it will cover the revised and heightened approach to due diligence lawyers must be prepared to bring to ensure buyers and sellers are fully informed of transaction risks and exposures and the resulting scrutiny of lenders and strategic and private equity partners. This course will utilize Zoom Webinar and attendees will be able to ask questions through the chat feature.

Disciplinary counsel with the Board of Professional Responsibility, Brittany Lavalle, will lead the TBA CLE’s upcoming program, Top 5 BPR Complaints of 2020 and How To Avoid Them in the Future. Lavalle will review the most common complaints the BPR received in 2020 and discuss with attendees what not to do and how to use best practices in 2021. The program will take place virtually on Jan. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. CST.
