The 2021 TBA Annual Convention, presented this year as both an in-person and virtual event, offers eight hours of CLE credit. One of the key offerings is the annual Better Right Now Program, which will focus this year on biases, how lawyers have been impacted in the past and what legal groups are doing to improve the situation. The first session will feature a panel of therapists and experts talking about how to identify and address implicit and explicit biases. In the second session, a panel of diverse lawyers will discuss their own experiences and how the past actions of others have affected them. Finally, the program will wrap up with a panel of local and affinity bar association leaders discussing initiatives and actions their organizations have taken to address diversity. Understanding and Confronting Unconscious Bias 2.0 is designed to help lawyers avoid bias in the decision-making process and better respond to allegations of bias from clients or third parties. The one-hour program will utilize exercises that help reveal biases, help participants better understand microaggressions and provide tools for improving cross-cultural communication at the organizational and personal levels. The 25th Annual Labor & Employment Law Forum is going virtual over two days in May. The program will take place May 6-7, from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. CDT each day. Full two-day registration as well as individual day registrations are available. Sessions will include case law updates, labor and employment issues in the COVID-19 era, what to expect from the Biden administration and an ethics update. This year’s Local Government Forum kicks off tomorrow and runs for two days. The virtual program will include sessions on ethics for municipal employees, law enforcement use of force, municipal court jurisdiction, blasting policies and more.

Also tomorrow is the Juvenile and Children's Law Forum, which will include a discussion about the impact COVID-19 has had on education, training on equality and two panel discussions on human trafficking.
