The TBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is sponsoring a webcast on Nov. 21 beginning at noon CST titled "What Attorneys Must Know About Secondary and Vicarious Trauma." S. Chris Troutt, CEO of the Papillon Center, will lead a discussion on recognizing and understanding how the secondary trauma of walking with clients through difficult situations can impact attorneys. One hour of ethics credit is available for the program.

The third installment in TBA’s Mockingbirds & the Rest of Us series will take place Sept. 19. This highly interactive three-part series, taught by Doug Blaze and Buck Lewis — founders of the Institute for Professional Leadership at UT Law — examines the book, movie and recent Aaron Sorkin adaptation of “To Kill a Mockingbird” through the lens of contemporary times. Panelists examine the lynching scene on the porch of the jail, the trial and the final scene on the Finch porch after an attempt on the Finch children’s lives. The TBA Administrative Law Section will host its Annual Forum on Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST at Burr & Forman in Nashville. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The program is designed to help Tennessee administrative lawyers stay current in their practice. TBA's Women in the Profession Committee will host the 3rd Annual Raising the Bar program Dec. 4 in Nashville, offering attendees 5 CLE hours. The event will include breakfast, educational sessions and a networking reception. The program will be held at Baker Donelson, 1600 West End Ave., Nashville 37203. The TBA’s 2024 Environmental Forum will take place in person on Nov. 15 in Nashville. This year’s program will address topics such as endangered species litigation, underground storage tanks, drinking water, the Chevron decision, brownfields, ethics and more. The annual Hot Topics in Real Estate seminar presented in partnership with the Tennessee Land Title Association will be held virtually on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. CDT. More information about specific topics and speakers will be announced soon.

Stuart Teicher, the CLE Performer, is back with three new ethics sessions. Join him on Nov. 7 for one, two or all three of these webcasts! From 9-10 a.m., Teicher will look at a host of grammar and punctuation rules that don’t make sense and are in some cases are not even rules in "Legal Writing Rules You SHOULD Be Breaking." From 10:15-11:15 a.m., Teicher will connect the cast of "Friends" to a number of ethics rules in "Friends ... An Ethical Sitcom?" To wrap up the series, Teicher will look at the worst criminals in history and the ethics lessons they teach us. "From Bonnie and Clyde to Bernie Madoff: What the Biggest Thieves in History Teach About Attorney Ethics" will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All times in central time zone.

Attorneys interested in estate planning will have the chance to gain valuable knowledge and enjoy a round of Topgolf at a special event on Nov. 7. The program, which will feature three hours of CLE programming, is designed for new attorneys and those looking to add estate planning to their practice. Save the date for the TBA’s 2024 Local Government Forum set for Nov. 1. The course will take place as a live virtual event starting at 9 a.m. and running until 1 p.m. CDT.
