The TBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) has launched its own Facebook account for news, updates and events related to young lawyers and law students across the state. Members and non-members alike can expect news about YLD events such as the Wills for Heroes legal clinics and the annual state mock trial tournament, as well as information relevant to the profession.

The TBA’s Section and Committee Leaders Conference kicked off today at the the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. TBA President-elect Jason Long gave opening remarks to launch the programming, followed by a Spotlight on Success panel from experienced leaders. Programming continues Saturday at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

The Tennessee Bar Association's Online Express Renewal for 2016-2017 is underway. Renew your membership now and you won't have to mess with a paper statement or email reminders in your inbox. 

Voting in the TBA Young Lawyers Division election is now underway. Members of the YLD are choosing between Michael Sandler and Christian Barker to fill the vice president position. The winner of the election will go on to serve as president of the YLD in 2018–2019. Online voting will continue until April 1. Eligible voters should have received an email from ElectionsOnline with voting information. If they did not receive an email, they can go to the ElectionsOnline website to get access to the ballot.

The TBA’s Law Blog has been redesigned to help you stay up-to-date with Tennessee news that impacts your practice. New features include a search by content option that allows you to quickly access archived stories in news categories, including legal news, the General Assembly and the Tennessee Supreme Court. Opinions are also accessible and sortable from the page. The blog is updated throughout the day and is compatible with your smartphone and tablet, so make the TBA Law Blog your online source for Tennessee legal news. In the coming weeks, the TBA is making a number of updates to the TBA.org website to improve the way you find and use legal news, opinions and other information. As part of this, we are also making changes that will make data on the site more secure. This will mean that you may be required to log in to the website to access certain information. For example, beginning this week, you will need to log in to access the online version of TBA Today. If you have not previously logged in to the site, you can do so by going to the “Log In” or “My Account” links at the top right of TBA.org and request a new password.

The TBA experienced some problems in the delivery of both incoming and outgoing emails on Tuesday as it transitioned to a new domain hosting company. This transition is now complete and operations have returned to normal. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this transition.

This will be the last issue of TBA Today for attorneys who have not yet renewed their membership in the Tennessee Bar Association. The 2014-2015 TBA membership year ended June 30 and the 30-day grace period for renewal has now expired.
