Longtime Nashville attorney Dan Warlick died yesterday morning of an apparent heart attack, NewsChannel5 reports. He was 69. Warlick graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1982, and once served as an investigator at the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office. Warlick was known for representing Elvis Presley’s doctor, Dr. George Nichopouls, and witnessing Presley’s autopsy. He also represented Tammy Wynette’s daughters in a lawsuit against Wynette’s doctor and husband after her death. Funeral arrangements are unavailable at this time.

Longtime Henry County Circuit Court Judge Julian Phelps Guinn died on Tuesday in Paris. He was 84. Judge Guinn was a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law and became a judge in 1984. Arrangements are unavailable at this time.

Kingsport attorney William T. “Bill” Gamble died on Monday. He was 90. Gamble was born and raised in Chattanooga and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1950. He was Of Counsel and past president at Wilson Worley Attorneys at Law, which he helped found. In addition to his legal work, Gamble was known as a popular local musician, playing in bands as well as the Kingsport Symphony Orchestra. His family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, with a memorial service tomorrow at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 100 West Church Circle in Kingsport. A plane crash in Bowling Green, Kentucky, killed four people on Sunday, including TBA member Scott Foster of the Foster Firm in Somerset, Kentucky. He was 41. Two friends, as well as Foster’s 15-year-old son, Noah, also perished in the crash. Visitation for Foster will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Beacon Hill Baptist Church, 4705 US-47 in Somerset, with a funeral on Friday at 11 a.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 KY-80.

Memphis attorney John Kimbrough Johnson Jr. died on Nov. 7. He was 75. A native of Kentucky, he graduated from Vanderbilt Law School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam before settling down in Memphis, where he practiced law for almost 50 years for the firm now known as Lewis, Thomason, King, Krieg, and Waldrop PC. Johnson was also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. A visitation for Johnson will be held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Canale Funeral Directors, 2700 Union Ave Extended. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, 1750 Union Ave.

Orville Almon Jr. of Nashville, died on Oct. 29. He was 67. Raised in Missouri, Almon served in the U.S. Army after college before attending the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he earned his law degree. He was a founding member of Zumwalt, Almon and Hayes in 1983, and later opened his own private practice, Almon Law, in 2010. He practiced in the entertainment and music law industry. A celebration of life is being planned by his family, with details to follow.

Knoxville lawyer Edward Wilson died on Nov. 2. He was 77. Wilson was a Knoxville native who graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1963. He was an Assistant U.S.  Attorney in Knoxville and an Assistant District Attorney for Knox and Sullivan counties. He retired from the Office of the District Attorney in Sullivan County in 2006. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. John's Cathedral, 413 West Cumberland Avenue in Knoxville. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Cathedral, P.O. Box 153, Knoxville, 37901.

Donald Stuart Caulkins Sr. of Brentwood has died. He was 82. Prior to his 30-year legal career, Caulkins served in the U.S. Air Force, becoming a Command Pilot with the Tactical Air Command and reaching the rank of Major. For his service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. During his military service, he earned a law degree from George Washington University and served as an Assistant Deputy Attorney General of the United States prior to his retirement from the military. After moving to Franklin he served as Chief Deputy Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, where he wrote the legislation establishing the compensation and benefit system for district attorneys and public defenders. Donations in Caulkins’ memory may be made to the Salvation Army.

Attorney Robert Doyle “R.D.” Cox died on Sept. 24. He was 91. He was hired by Memphis State University’s new Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1962, and served as dean until 1977. Cox continued teaching law school for many years after his retirement as dean. Cox spent time in the U.S. Army before studying law at Oklahoma University. He began his career practicing law in Oklahoma, but was recalled by the Army to serve in the JAG core in 1952. He earned a Master of Laws from Duke University and relocated to Kingsport, Tenn. to work for Eastman Kodak. Visitation and funeral were on Monday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law or to the Bill Graham Foundation.

Chattanooga attorney Charles O. Hon III died on Thursday. He was 73. Born in Union City, he was a 1970 graduate of Cumberland School of Law. He began his career as a partner with his father, and shortly after, commenced work for The Title Guaranty and Trust Company of Chattanooga, where he remained until his death. He served as the president of the Tennessee Land Title Association from 1979-1980, and was named by the Tennessee Commissioner of Insurance to serve on a committee to rewrite the title insurance law for the state. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday at First Centenary United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Webb School in Bell Buckle or to a charity of choice.
