Johnnie Daryl Sellars, 40, of Kodak died Aug. 7. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Law, and an assistant district attorney for the 4th Judicial District for several years. Funeral services were earlier this week, with interment in Underwood Cemetery. Learn more from the Mountain Press.

Greeneville attorney N.R. "Nat" Coleman Jr. died Monday (Aug. 13) at his home. He was 89. His death came after years of declining health, including a period of recent hospitalization. Coleman played a key role for more than 50 years with Milligan & Coleman, Greeneville's oldest and largest law firm. Read more in the Greeneville Sun

Retired Circuit Court Judge Benjamin King Wexler died Aug. 11 at the age of 90.  For his service in World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, three air medals and two battle stars. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1960, then worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority before moving to Greeneville to practice law. While in Greeneville he was an assistant district attorney general, city judge, and Greene County attorney. In 1986, he was elected Circuit Court judge for the Third Judicial District of Tennessee from which he retired in 2006. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with entombment following in the Chapel Mausoleum at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Greeneville & Greene County and the Greeneville/Greene County Humane Society. Read his obituary in the Greeneville Sun

Georgia attorney and University of Tennessee College of Law graduate Deborah Hyden died July 31. She was 59. She graduated in 2001, was a member of the Law Review, and was nationally published. After passing the bar in both Georgia and Tennessee, Ms. Hyden became a professor of law at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. She served as a prosecutor for the Office of the Gwinnett County Solicitor General before opening her own criminal defense law practice. Services were Aug. 3. Read her obituary

The family of former Sullivan County Criminal Court Judge Edgar Phillip Calhoun will receive friends tomorrow (Thursday) from noon to 2 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport 37660. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. Military graveside services will take place at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport 37664. Brentwood lawyer Logan G. Fulks Jr. died on July 19 after battling lymphoma. A graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, he was working as assistant vice president for claims at State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company at the time of his death. Former Sullivan County Criminal Court Judge Edgar Calhoun died Monday (Aug. 6) after a long illness. He was 81. A Scott County native, Calhoun worked in the Tennessee Comptroller's Office after earning his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He later moved to Kingsport and entered private practice. He worked in the Sullivan County District Attorney General's office before being appointed to the bench in 1976. He held that position until his retirement in August 1994. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. TriCities.com reported the news

Little Rock, Ark., lawyer Robert "Robby" M. Wilson Jr. died on Aug. 3. He was 60. After graduating from the University of Arkansas School of Law, Mr. Wilson began his legal career, and soon founded Wilson & Associates PLLC, focusing on representation of the mortgage banking industry. The firm has three offices in Arkansas and offices in Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis. Knoxville lawyer and restaurant chain owner Don Sproles died Wednesday (Aug. 1). Mr. Sproles, 61, graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1979 and served as president of the Knoxville Barristers in 1982. His LunchBox restaurant has been a mainstay luncheon spot for members of the local bar. A memorial service will be held Monday at 5 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan, 425 N. Knoxville lawyer Dennis L. Babb died July 27. He was 83. He earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee, after which he began the practice of law in 1956 and practiced for more than 40 years. An outstanding trial attorney, he was a founding partner of Butler, Vines and Babb. The family will receive friends on Sunday (Aug. 5), from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
