An item in Wednesday’s issue of TBA Today used an incorrect term in identifying courtroom facility dogs, which are currently being debated in a Tennessee Senate bill. A 2014 Tennessee Bar Journal article offers guidance on the use of service animals, therapy animals and assistance animals, along with current laws regarding their use.

An item in Tuesday’s issue of TBA Today incorrectly reported the amount of money that Baptist Healing Trust has awarded to health care agencies and non-profits. Baptist Healing Trust, which supports programs that help people enroll in health insurance on the exchange, has awarded more than 1,000 grants totaling $72 million.

An item in Wednesday’s TBA Today incorrectly identified the name of the new Nashville law firm, Farmer Purcell White & Lassiter PLLC, with attorneys Bill Lassiter, Bill Farmer, Jonathan Farmer, Bill Purcell, John Belcher, Jim White, Elizabeth Sykes, Hank Hildebrand, Curtis Harrington and Tim Kappel. An item in Thursday’s issue of TBA Today incorrectly identified the first name of Nashville attorney Ana Escobar. Escobar was recently appointed by District Attorney Glenn Funk to lead the DA’s domestic violence unit.

A news item in yesterday’s issue of TBA Today had the wrong date for the Memphis Bar Foundation’s deadline for a law-related grant program. Applications are due by Aug. 31. The grant funds programs and projects that advocate and support public awareness of the legal profession, promote social justice, promote legal education, and recognize professionalism among members of the bar. A story in yesterday’s issue of TBA Today mischaracterized the benefits provided by a U Visa, as reported by Nashville Public Radio. This visa is actually a special temporary visa for crime victims, which allows the holder to remain in the United States legally on a temporary basis, but does not automatically grant citizenship. Under certain circumstances, a U Visa can allow the holder to apply for a green card after three years.
