A story that ran yesterday in TBA Today about the state attorney general’s request that the Supreme Court set execution dates for nine death row inmates incorrectly identified Attorney General Herbert Slatery. We apologize for the error.

A story in Tuesday's TBA Today misidentified the state agency involved with the new Tennessee: First in Adoption Law. The attorneys and Commissioner Bonnie Hommrich are part of the Department of Children's Services.

In a story in Friday’s TBA Today about a settlement between Rutherford County and Providence Community Corrections, the item incorrectly stated that the lawsuit was over probate practices. The lawsuit concerned probation practices.

A story in yesterday's TBA Today about services for former TBA Executive Director Billie Bethel indicated the incorrect amount of time she had been with the association. She was employed by the TBA for 18 years, from 1964 until 1982, also serving during that time as the first editor of the Tennessee Bar Journal and other publications.

News Type: Correction

An item in Thursday's TBA Today involving two cases before the Tennessee Supreme Court incorrectly reported that both defendants in the cases had been convicted. Franklin attorney David Veile, who is representing Angela Daniel in one of the cases, notes that she has not been convicted of any offenses and that the matter before the Supreme Court involves a trial court decision to suppress blood evidence and the state's appeal of that action.

An item in Tuesday's TBA Today incorrectly stated the names of the keynote speaker at the Tennessee Lawyers' Association for Women's Empowerment Conference. The speakers were Judge Julia Gibbons of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and Col. USAF Linda Strite Murnane, chair of the Judicial Division of the American Bar Association.

Monday's edition of TBA Today contained a wording error involving proposed legislation. A statement from the Lawyers’ Association for Women’s Marion Griffin Chapter should have noted the group’s opposition to a bill in the state legislature that would make judicial elections in Shelby and Davidson counties nonpartisan.

An item in yesterday's TBA Today contained dated information about 10 attorneys joining Bass Berry and Sims. The Business Journal story announcing the move was actually originally published last year when the activity occurred.
