The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will hold a legal advice clinic in Oak Ridge Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The clinic will take place at the group’s office at 575 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Suite 201. The TBA Young Lawyers Division has three Wills for Heroes clinics planned during Celebrate Pro Bono Month. The first will take place Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Benjamin L. Hooks Public Library in Memphis. The second will take place Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon. The third will take place Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Franklin Police Department in downtown Franklin. Volunteers are needed for all events. The Community Legal Center (CLC) will host its primary fundraiser of the year on Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz of Memphis. STRUT! 2016 will feature a fashion show, food, drinks and a live band. Proceeds raised through a wine pull, giving wall and silent and live auction will benefit the work of the CLC. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online. Law students can buy discounted tickets for $25 each.

The Knoxville Barristers Access to Justice Committee is looking for volunteers to help with the 2016 Super Saturday Bar in Blount County this coming Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The clinic will be held at the Blount County Library, 508 North Cusick St. in Maryville. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kathryn Ellis or Daniel Ellis. Volunteers are still needed for the Lipscomb University legal clinic Tuesday from 6:15 to 8 p.m. at Schrader Lane Church of Christ, 1234 Schrader Ln., Nashville 37208. This is an advice-only clinic with no expectation that lawyers take on continuing representation. Volunteers will receive an informational packet that addresses common legal clinic questions to assist in helping clients. The Tennessee Supreme Court will hold its Pro Bono Recognition event for Middle Tennessee on Oct. 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Belmont University College of Law, 1900 Belmont Blvd., Nashville 37212. Two Tennessee lawyers will be inducted into the Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s (LAET) Pro Bono Hall of Fame at an Oct. 18 event in Chattanooga. Chief Justice William M. “Muecke” Barker and Chancellor Howell Peoples are being honored for their long-term commitment to pro bono representation, increasing access to justice and support for LAET. Justice Barker served on the Tennessee Supreme Court for 10 years and Chancellor Peoples served as the first Legal Services Corporation funded legal aid lawyer in Chattanooga. The event begins at 5 p.m. at the LAET offices, 535 Chestnut Street, Suite 360. The celebration is free and will be hosted by former TBA President Marcy Eason. Two Nashville law schools are holding virtual legal advice clinics using Tennessee Free Legal Answers (formerly OnlineTNJustice), a web-based resource for low-income individuals seeking legal help. The Nashville School of Law (NSL) will host a clinic on Oct. 12 and Vanderbilt Law School will host one on Oct. 18. Douglas A. Blaze will be inducted into Legal Aid of East Tennessee's (LAET) Donald F. Paine Memorial Pro Bono Hall of Fame at the upcoming Forging Justice Celebration. Blaze serves as the director of the Institute for Professional Leadership at the University of Tennessee College of Law. The LAET event will be Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at Ironwood Studios in Knoxville. Tickets are $35.
