The Knoxville Bar Association will hold a virtual Legal Advice Clinic for Veterans on Aug. 12 from noon to 2 p.m. EDT. This will be a general advice clinic that will cover a wide variety of legal issues, including family law, landlord/tenant, bankruptcy, criminal defense, consumer protection, contract disputes, child support and personal injury. Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will host two phone clinics next week for members of the public with questions about housing and renters’ rights, bankruptcy, medical bills, debt collection, domestic violence, SNAP benefits and unemployment benefits. Clinics will take place Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT. Those needing assistance may call 800-238-1443 during these times. The Music City Community Court will hold its 28th expungement clinic on June 20 at 10 a.m. CDT. The virtual FREEDOM-A-THON event will held in honor of Juneteenth, a commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Attorneys are needed to volunteer for the event and can register here. A short training will be held via zoom the Thursday before the clinic. Registration ends this coming Monday at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
