The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will hold two clinics next week. On Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. EDT, the group will hold a clinic at its Oak Ridge office, 575 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Ste. 201, Oak Ridge 37830. On Saturday, a general advice clinic will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. CDT at Belmont University, 2005 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37204. The Legal Aid Society will host a free legal clinic for Davidson County residents on Saturday at McHugh Clinic, 2005 12th South Nashville 37204, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. CDT. The clinic will offer help on civil legal issues, such as Family Law, Consumer Law, Debt Collections, Power of Attorney, Employment Law, Health Law, Public Benefits, Housing, Probate/Estate, Wills, and Bankruptcy. Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS) will hold three legal clinics in June. The “Attorney of the Day Clinic” will take place June 1 and June 15 from 1-3 p.m. CDT at the Shelby County Courthouse, 140 Adams Ave., Room 134, Memphis 38103. The monthly clinic at the Benjamin Hooks Library will take place June 10 beginning at 10 a.m. The library is located at 3030 Poplar Ave., Memphis 38111. For both clinics, clients will be served on a first come, first served basis. For questions or to volunteer contact Heather Staggs or Walter Casey.

The Memphis Bar Association's Access to Justice Committee and Young Lawyers Division will join with Memphis Area Legal Services and local elected officials to host a Restoration of Rights Community Clinic on July 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT. The clinic will be held at the Legacy Impact Center, 2285 Frayser Blvd., Memphis 38127. Members of the public are invited to attend to get help with criminal expungements, reinstatement of drivers’ licenses and voting rights. The deadline to preregister is June 23. The TBA Young Lawyers Division is hosting a debt relief clinic on June 3 at 9 a.m. CDT. The clinic is fully virtual and will start with a presentation from U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Ruthie Hagan. Low-income debtors then will meet with volunteer attorneys in Zoom breakout rooms for counsel and advice on bankruptcy and other debt relief options. The clinic is hosted in partnership with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, West Tennessee Legal Services and Legal Aid of East Tennessee, among others. Two free legal help clinics are scheduled for next week in Nashville, hosted by the Legal Aid Society for Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands (LAS). May 24 is a veterans only clinic from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CDT at Operation Stand Down, 112 12th Ave. S. Nashville 37203. On May 27, a clinic will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. CDT at Belmont Ministry Center, 2005 12th Ave. S, Nashville 37204.

The Memphis Bar Association will hold its Second Saturday Legal Clinic tomorrow from 10 a.m. to noon CDT at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave., Memphis 38111. The association’s Family Law Section is sponsoring the day’s event. Volunteers should arrive by 9:30 a.m. for instructions. Sign up here to volunteer.

The Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts is joining the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings to provide free legal services for nonprofits and Black-owned small businesses in Nashville on May 18. Advice will cover business formation, corporate governance, contracts and navigating local ordinances and state regulations. Eligible entities may receive up to one hour of assistance.
