The Nashville Arts and Business Council will host a Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts pro bono legal clinic on Aug. 2 from 6 - 8 p.m. (CDT) at the East Park Community Center, 600 Woodland St., Nashville 37206. The clinic will provide pro bono legal services to income-qualified artists, emerging arts nonprofit organizations, and creative businesses in drafting and reviewing contracts, protecting work with copyright and trademark and resolving arts-related disputes. The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will hold two clinics this week. Tomorrow, the group will hold a clinic from 4-6 p.m. EDT at its Oak Ridge office, 575 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Ste. 201, Oak Ridge 37830. On Saturday, a general advice clinic will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. CDT at Belmont University, 2005 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37204. The Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville and its Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts (VLPA) program will hold a pro bono clinic on Aug. 2 for those needing legal advice on issues surrounding their creative practice. The free 30-minute in-person appointments are available to income-qualified artists, musicians, creatives and arts organizations in the state. The clinic will run from 6-8 p.m. CDT at the East Park Community Center. Those who would like to participate should register by July 26. To volunteer at the clinic email vlpa@abcnashville.org.

The TBA Young Lawyers Division will host a virtual name change clinic in partnership with Legal Aid Society of East Tennessee and Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee this Saturday. During the clinic, volunteer attorneys will meet with clients in Zoom breakout rooms to help clients fill out name change petitions and give counsel and advice on the name change process. A training about the process and how to fill out the forms will be provided ahead of the clinic. The clinic starts at 9 a.m. CDT and is fully virtual. Sign up to volunteer at this link.

A veterans-only legal help clinic will be held in Knoxville on July 12 at the Knox County Public Defender's Office from noon-2 p.m. EDT, 1101 Liberty St., Knoxville 37919.

Memphis Area Legal Services will host the June Second Saturday Legal Advice Clinic on July 8 at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave., Memphis 38111 from 10 a.m.-noon CDT. The clinic operates on a first come, first served basis.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee will host a free virtual clinic on July 15 at 10 a.m. EDT to assist adults seeking to change their names, Knox News reports. Participants will receive step-by-step assistance in completing their name change petitions as well as advice on filing pro-se. Interested individuals must pre-register by July 7 by calling 423-402-4765. Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee & the Cumberlands will hold its McHugh Legal Help Clinic this Saturday at the Belmont Ministry Center, 2005 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37204 (former home of Bass Street Baptist Church). The Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts is joining the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, Nashville Bar Foundation and Country Music Association to provide free legal services for nonprofits and Black-owned small businesses in Nashville on July 20. Advice will cover business formation, corporate governance, contracts and navigating local ordinances and state regulations. Eligible entities may receive up to one hour of assistance.
