The Tennessee Supreme Court today ordered the law license of Robert Hamm Moyer be transferred to disability inactive status pursuant to Section 27.4 of Rule 9. Moyer cannot practice while on disability inactive status. He may petition the high court to remove his disability and reinstate him to the practice of law.

The Tennessee Supreme Court today suspended the law license of Shelby County lawyer TeShaun David Moore for six years retroactive to March 7, 2018, with four years to be served on active suspension and the remainder on probation. The court also ordered Moore to obtain an evaluation with the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program, engage the services of a practice monitor and pay restitution to multiple clients. Moore admitted he failed to distribute settlement funds to clients, failed to distribute funds to insurance companies with liens, missed scheduled court dates, failed to communicate with clients, and failed to notify clients he had been suspended. Moore agreed to a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.15, 1.16, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, 8.1 and 8.4.

The law license of Anderson County lawyer Kevin Carmack Angel was transferred to disability inactive status today. He may not practice law while on inactive status but may petition the court for reinstatement by showing the disability has been removed.

Shelby County lawyer Urura W. Mayers was immediately and temporarily suspended from the practice of law today. The Tennessee Supreme Court found that Mayers misappropriated a client’s funds and posed a threat of substantial harm to the public. She is immediately precluded from accepting any new cases and must cease representing existing clients by Dec. 30.

Hamilton County lawyer Charles Gammons Wright was censured today by the Tennessee Supreme Court. The court found that he negligently disclosed client confidential information in an affidavit filed with a motion to withdraw from representation. His actions violated Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6.

The Tennessee Supreme Court today transferred the law license of Robertson County lawyer Van Davis Villines to disability inactive status pursuant to Section 27.3 of Supreme Court Rule 9. Villines may not practice law while on inactive status. He may petition for reinstatement by showing clear and convincing evidence that the disability has been removed, and he is fit to resume the practice of law.

Davidson County lawyer Ivan Omar Lopez today received a public censure from the Tennessee Supreme Court. The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline after Lopez failed to ensure the timely entry of a final decree of divorce in 2015 and for his failure to take timely action in 2019 after being advised the final decree was not in the court file and had not been entered. Lopez executed a conditional guilty plea acknowledging he had violated Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3 and 8.4 (d). A public censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to practice law.

The Tennessee Supreme Court today reinstated Shelby County lawyer A. Sais Phillips Finney, who had been suspended on Oct. 29 for failure to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility. Finney petitioned for dissolution of the suspension on Oct. 30 stating that she had responded to the board. The board stated that Finney’s response was deemed to be responsive to the previous request.
