Christopher J. Wnuk received a public censure on Feb. 13. Wnuk is principally licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri but also holds an active law license in the State of Kansas. He practiced law in Tennessee after his pro hac vice registration status had expired by filing pleadings, attending mediation, and appearing in court in Tennessee. Additionally, Wnuk’s firm letterhead listed his admission to the State of Louisiana although his license to practice law in Louisiana had been on inactive status since 2002. Download the BPR notice.

Knox County lawyer Stephen Todd Hastey received a public censure from the Tennessee Supreme Court on Feb. 4. The court imposed the discipline after it determined that Hastey used trust account funds to pay personal and business expenses; used trust account funds to pay a filing fee for a client though the money was intended for another purpose; and paid a medical provider from personal funds after a trust account check went unprocessed for 10 months and funds were no longer available to cover the payment. The state Supreme Court on Jan. 31 suspended Harriman lawyer Spence Roberts Bruner from the practice of law for 90 days. The court determined that Bruner violated the Rules of Professional Conduct in his representation of a client in a criminal matter by failing to timely file an appellate brief; ignoring four orders from the Court of Criminal Appeals directing him to file the brief; and being found in contempt of court. Maury County lawyer Martha Jane Durocher was censured by the Board of Professional Responsibility after she discharged a weapon in public and entered a guilty plea to the Class A misdemeanor of reckless endangerment and the Class C misdemeanor of unlawful possession of a weapon.
