Charles Michael Clifford of Blount County was suspended from the practice of law today, retroactive to March 9, 2016, by the Board of Professional Responsibility. Clifford was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,500. Clifford was found to have failed to communicate adequately with his client, failed to notify his client of a hearing fate, failed to appear in court for the hearing and failed to respond to Disciplinary Counsel.

The law license of Larry Bea Nolan was transferred to disability inactive status on March 10. Nolen may not practice law while on disability status, but may return after showing clear and convincing evidence to the Tennessee Supreme Court that the disability has been removed.

Michael John McNulty of Davidson County was suspended from the practice of law yesterday by the Board of Professional Responsibility. The board found that McNulty posed a threat of substantial harm to the public, and he must cease accepting new cases immediately. He must cease representing existing clients by April 8 and must notify all clients.

Campbell County attorney Donald Brent Gray was suspended from the practice of law today by the Board of Professional Responsibility, upon finding that he posed a threat of substantial harm to the public. He may not accept any new cases and must cease representing clients by April 9.

Nashville lawyer Kevin William Teets Jr. was temporarily suspended from the practice of law today by the Board of Professional Responsibility. Teets was found to have misappropriated funds. He must cease representing clients by April 2 and may not accept any new cases starting immediately. Teets is ordered to notify all clients being represented in pending matters.

The Tennessee Supreme Court ordered the law license of Nashville lawyer Jason Nahon transferred to disability inactive status on Tuesday. The order was pursuant to Section 27.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. Read the Board of Professional Responsibility's order.

The law license of Virgil Duane Parker was transferred to disability inactive status by the Board of Professional Responsibility yesterday. Parker cannot practice law while on disability inactive status until he has shown clear evidence that the disability has been removed.

Sullivan County attorney Don W. Cooper was disbarred today by the Board of Professional Responsibility. The action is effective immediately. The board found that Cooper misappropriated funds while serving as co-executor, administrator and/or trustee in three separate estates and trusts. Cooper must pay restitution totaling $952,759.37.

Hamilton County attorney Randall Lee Nelson was transferred to disability inactive status today. Nelson may not practice law until the showing of clear and convincing evidence to the Tennessee Supreme Court that the disability has been removed, and he is fit to resume the practice of law.

Robert Lawson Cheek Jr. was disbarred on Wednesday by the Board of Professional Responsibility. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Cheek had power of attorney for all of a client’s business, financial, health and personal matters, and during that time he systematically withdrew approximately $53,500 from her retirement accounts without her knowledge. Cheek also set up a reverse mortgage in her name in the amount of almost $60,000 without her knowledge. Cheek was previously disbarred on May 15, 2014, and August 12, 2015, in unrelated cases.
