Knox County lawyer Jonathan William Doolan was temporarily suspended from the practice of law today after the Tennessee Supreme Court found that he failed to comply with a Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program monitoring agreement. Doolan must immediately stop accepting new cases and cease representing existing clients by Oct. 19. The suspension will remain in effect until dissolution or modification by the court. The court also issued an order approving documents in the case to be filed under seal.

On Sept. 13, the Tennessee Supreme Court denied a petition to dissolve a suspension against Knox County Mark Steven Graham. The court had suspended Graham’s license on May 20 for “substantial noncompliance with a Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program.” Graham filed a petition on May 4 to dissolve the suspension, which the court dismissed. Graham then filed a request for reconsideration alleging additional facts. That petition was referred to the Board of Professional Responsibility, which held a hearing, with members of the panel recommending that Graham remain suspended.

The Tennessee Supreme Court transferred the law license of Hamilton County lawyer Walter Francis Williams to disability inactive status on Sept. 13. Williams may not practice law while on inactive status but may seek reinstatement by showing that the disability has been removed.

Mississippi lawyer Louis Collins Walker was reinstated to the practice of law in Tennessee on Sept. 5, retroactive to Aug. 28. Walker had been placed on inactive status on Jan. 16, 2019. The Board of Professional Responsibility determined that the reinstatement petition was satisfactory and recommended that the court approve it.

The Tennessee Supreme Court on Aug. 21 suspended 17 attorneys for failure to pay the annual registration fee; nine of them also failed to file proof that client funds are held in an IOLTA-compliant account. View the fee suspension order and IOLTA suspension order. See the list of all lawyers suspended and reinstated for fee and IOLTA violations in 2024 or access all administrative suspensions dating back to 2005. Lawyers recently reinstated include nine who were suspended this year, 11 who were suspended in 2023, one who was suspended in 2019 and one who was suspended in 2012.

Florida lawyer April Elaine Rolle was reinstated to the practice of law in Tennessee effective July 25. According to the Tennessee Supreme Court, Rolle filed a petition for reinstatement demonstrating that all delinquent annual registration fees had been paid to the Board of Professional Responsibility. The court issued the order on Aug. 20.

The Tennessee Supreme Court has referred the case of Maury County lawyer Ashlyn Elizabeth Blevins to the Board of Professional Responsibility for “whatever action” it deems warranted. The court took the action after Blevins pled guilty to the Class B misdemeanor of reckless driving in the General Sessions Court for Maury County. She received judicial diversion in that case.
