By order of the Tennessee Supreme Court on June 10, the law license of Davidson County attorney Adrianne Grimm Thompson was transferred to disability inactive status. Thompson may not practice law while on disability inactive status and must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 28.

The Tennessee Supreme Court on May 29 suspended 12 attorneys for failure to pay the annual registration fee, nine of whom also failed to file proof that client funds are held in an IOLTA-compliant account. View the fee suspension order and IOLTA suspension order. Lawyers reinstated in the last month include eight suspended this year and two suspended in 2025. TBA has administrative suspensions dating back to 2005. Be sure to check the Board of Professional Responsibility's website for the most up to date information on lawyers' licenses.

The Tennessee Supreme Court reinstated Kentucky lawyer Natalie Talmage Stuart to the practice of law in Tennessee on May 28. Stuart had been placed on inactive status more than five years ago, on May 22, 2015. She filed a petition for reinstatement, which the court found satisfactory. The court issued the order on May 2.

The Tennessee Supreme Court on June 4 conditioned reinstatement of Maine attorney John Christian Wright’s law license on completion of required continuing legal education (CLE) hours and payment of the professional privilege tax. Wright filed a petition for reinstatement on May 20. The court directed Wright to satisfy outstanding requirements by July 20 or face dismissal of the petition.

The Tennessee Supreme Court on June 5 conditioned reinstatement of Arizona attorney Katrina Jewett's law license on completion of outstanding continuing legal education (CLE) hours. Wright filed a petition for reinstatement on May 26. The court directed Wright to satisfy these requirements by July 20 or face dismissal of the petition.

On June 3, the Tennessee Supreme Court transferred the law license of Florida attorney Harvey Randolph Fallin, to disability inactive status. Fallin may not practice law while on disability inactive status. He must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 28, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of attorneys transferred to disability inactive status.

Blount County lawyer David Arthur Walker was temporarily suspended from the practice of law on June 3. The Tennessee Supreme Court said it took the action after finding that Walker was substantially non-compliant with a Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program monitoring agreement and poses a threat of substantial harm to the public. He is immediately precluded from accepting new cases and he must cease representing existing clients by July 3. The suspension will remain in effect until dissolution or modification by the court.

Knox County lawyer Troy Lee Bowlin was temporarily suspended from the practice of law on June 3. The Tennessee Supreme Court said it took the action after finding that Bowlin misappropriated client funds and posed a threat of substantial harm to the public. Bowlin is immediately precluded from accepting new cases and he must cease representing existing clients by July 3. The suspension will remain in effect until dissolution or modification by the court.

On May 19, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended Williamson County lawyer Jason Scott Mangrum from the practice of law for four years, with five months to be served on active suspension and the remainder on probation subject to conditions. Two complaints were filed against Mangrum alleging that he failed to adequately represent clients, abide by client wishes, act diligently, return client property, respond to discovery, respond to dispositive motions and communicate. He also was accused of making frivolous claims and dismissing a party and claim without authorization from the client. He agreed to a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.15(d), 1.16, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4 and 8.4.

The Tennessee Supreme Court on May 19 transferred the law license of Bedford County lawyer Richard Lamar Dugger to disability inactive status. Dugger may not practice law while on disability inactive status and shall comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 28, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of attorneys transferred to disability inactive status. He may return to the practice of law after an order from the reinstating his license.
