Bio:

Professor Regina L. Hillman graduated summa cum laude from The University of Memphis in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2001 and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.  While in law school, Professor Hillman served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Tennessee Law Review and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Legal Honor Society. She was awarded the W.H.H. Southern Memorial Scholarship as well as the Dean's Citation for Extraordinary Contributions.

In 2017, Mrs. Hillman began work as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law teaching Legal Methods classes that focus on legal research, writing, and analysis.  In 2022, Professor Hillman accepted a tenure line and position as an Assistant Professor of Law.  Her current classes focus on legal research and writing, professional responsibility and ethics, and LGBTQ+ issues/Gender and the Law.  Prior to teaching at Memphis Law, Professor Hillman taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law from 2010-2017.  Her classes, Legal Process I and Legal Process II, focused on legal writing and the appellate process. She also taught undergraduate and master level Business Law & Ethics courses and Labor & Employment Law courses as an adjunct law professor at Tusculum College from 2003-2017.

Professor Hillman's private practice focused primarily in the area of complex litigation involving business, health care, and corporate matters including hospital acquisition, commercial contract disputes, property claims, product liability, worker's compensation, and labor/employment issues. Her most recent work prior to becoming a full-time law professor was in national civil rights litigation related to marriage equality.
