Lewisburg attorney Dan. P. Whitaker died on Tuesday. He was 84. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1962. The next year, he and Shelby Haywood formed the law firm of Haywood and Whitaker in Lewisberg. He worked in the Marshall County community for 52 years, including serving as legal counsel for the Lewisburg Water and Wastewater Board for 31 years. A visitation will be held at Bills McGaugh and Hamilton Funeral Home tomorrow from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and a memorial service will be held on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 3255 W. Church Street in Lewisburg, beginning at 11 a.m., with an additional visitation at 10 a.m.
