Davidson County Chancellor Carol McCoy spent her last day on the bench Wednesday, retiring after two decades of service. The AOC reports that McCoy has presided over high-profile cases involving important public issues, including the Tennessee Voter Identification Act, the Open Records Act and TennCare litigation. Prior to election to the bench in 1996, she worked at Legal Services (precursor to the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands), the Tennessee Department of Revenue and as a partner at two law firms. She was a founding member of CABLE and the Lawyers Association for Women, president of the Judicial Conference in 2009-2010 and presiding judge of the 20th Judicial District from 1999-2001. She is being replaced by Bill Young.
