Hamilton County lawyer Michael Lee West was suspended for one year effective Aug. 17. The Tennessee Supreme Court found that West, while suspended from the practice of law, failed to withdraw from a pending case and failed to notify his client of the suspension. As a consequence, the notice of trial was sent to West, who failed to take appropriate action or inform his client of the trial date. A default judgment was therefore entered against the client. West accepted responsibility and reached an agreement to make monthly payments on the judgment. Read the BPR release.
