A monument honoring women's suffrage and the suffragists of Tennessee will be unveiled at Centennial Park in Nashville on Aug. 26, during a special event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Speakers at the event will include Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillian, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, among others. The date was chosen to coincide with Women's Equality Day, which commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the 19th Amendment into law.
