Knoxville lawyer Frank Barnett died Friday (July 15) at the age 82. A 1959 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, Barnett began his career as a special agent for the FBI. He later joined East Tennessee Natural Gas as in-house counsel and was a founding partner of the Baker, Worthington, Barnett & Crossley law firm. Barnett left the firm to serve as executive assistant to Gov. Winfield Dunn. In 2010, he joined the U.S. Agency for International Development and worked in Afghanistan on infrastructure development and creation of a new law school. Recently, he completed a term on the Tennessee Board of Regents. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Burial will be a private family ceremony.
