Davidson County lawyer John Martin Drake was censured on Oct. 14 for failing to file a brief on his client’s behalf or respond to inquiries from the Court of Criminal Appeals about the status of the appeal. The court entered an order removing Drake as counsel for these violations. The Supreme Court directed Drake to undergo an evaluation by the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) and conditioned his censure on compliance with all subsequent TLAP recommendations.
