Tennessee lawyers offering free legal services across the state during October

NASHVILLE, Oct. 13, 2015 — October is “Celebrate Pro Bono Month” in Tennessee and lawyers across the state are joining in a nationwide effort to provide free legal services to those in need. The celebratory month also honors the good work performed by lawyers every day.

Now in its seventh year, the TBA’s statewide Celebrate Pro Bono initiative brings together legal services providers with local bar associations, law schools, law firms and individual lawyers to offer free services to those unable to afford a lawyer.

This year nearly 300 volunteers -- including lawyers, law students, paralegals and language interpreters -- are expected to participate in more than 50 events and activities that will offer assistance to Tennesseans in need.  Activities include legal advice clinics, volunteer training, education programs, public presentations and other events.

Events are planned in the following cities:

  • Chattanooga
  • Cleveland
  • Cookeville
  • Elizabethton
  • Franklin
  • Gallatin
  • Greeneville
  • Jackson
  • Johnson City
  • Jonesborough
  • Kingsport
  • Knoxville
  • Maryville
  • Memphis
  • Murfreesboro
