Blount County Bar Association YLD – The group typically meets for lunch on the third Tuesday of every month. For more information contact President Nick Black, (865) 238-0665.

Chattanooga Bar Association YLD – The Chattanooga YLD recently held a fundraising event for the Ronald McDonald House. The group also has been providing local high schools with the book “So You’re 18” and presenting information to inform students of their rights and responsibilities when they turn 18 years old. Finally, the group is helping the local CASA agency plan its 30th Anniversary Celebration which will be held Nov. 5. Jackson Madison County Bar Association YLD – The Jackson-Madison County YLD will be working with the Hands Up pre-school this year as well as several other organizations. Knoxville Bar Association Barristers – The Barristers are seeking candidates to serve as officers in 2016. The following positions are open for nominations: vice president, secretary/treasurer and two at-large Executive Committee seats. To date, one candidate, Samantha Parris, has filed for vice president. The individual elected vice president will automatically become Barristers president for the 2017 bar year. Candidates must be current Knoxville Bar Association (KBA) members. Please notify KBA Executive Director Marsha Wilson by Nov. 2 if you would like to nominate someone or are interested in running for a position.

The KBA is sponsoring its annual minority law student reception Oct. 1 from 5:30-7 p.m. at The Square Room at Café 4. KBA members are asked to sign up for the buddy match program, which pairs a practicing lawyer with a minority law student. Other events scheduled for the fall include:

Bundle Up Knoxville! Barristers Coat Drive: The Barristers are accepting donations of gently used men’s and women’s coats, jackets, parkas, minks, rain coats, trench coats and dusters Oct. 5 - 19. The coats will be donated to KARM’s Coats for the Cold Program. Interested in donating? Find a location near you here.

Charity Cornhole Tournament: Sponsored by the Barristers Hunger & Poverty Relations Committee, the cornhole tournament is set for Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at Bearden Beer Market. Interested individuals can register as a single or as a two-person team. The entry fee is $15 per player through Oct. 8. After that date, registration will go up to $20 per player.

Charity Golf Tournament – The Barristers Charity Golf Tournament will take place Oct. 26 at Holston Hills. Tickets include a complimentary box lunch, water and sports drinks, two beer tickets, a commemorative tournament gift, great prizes and a complimentary reception following the tournament. Individual tickets are $125 and foursomes are $500. Sponsorships start at $300. Download a registration form or sponsorship packet.

Nashville Bar Association YLD – The Nashville Bar Association (NBA) is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Young Lawyers Division with a party on Oct. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m at the Hard Rock Café. The event will feature an open bar, heavy appetizers and a recognition of the founders and past presidents of the YLD. Tickets to this event are $50. RSVP online. Northeast Tennessee Young Lawyers Association – NETYLA is planning a “Bears from the Bench” Drive this fall to collect stuffed bears for court personnel to use in comforting young people who interact with the court.
