Offices and lawyers to be honored at luncheon ceremony

NASHVILLE, Jan. 16, 2014 -- The Tennessee Bar Association on Saturday will recognize five law firms in the state for adopting formal pro bono policies calling on employees to do more for Tennesseans who cannot afford legal representation.

The awards will be presented at the TBA’s 2014 Public Service Luncheon at the War Memorial Auditorium in Downtown Nashville. Held each year as part of the association’s Leadership Conference, the luncheon features honorees in several categories and will include an address by Clarksville Mayor and former Tennessee House Majority Leader Kim McMillan. TBA President Cindy Wyrick also will deliver remarks at the luncheon.

In addition, Wyrick will present awards to the following:

•    White & Rhodes PC, Brentwood
•    Ramsey, Elmore, Stone & Caffey PLLC, Knoxville
•    Everhart Law Firm PLC, Nashville
•    The Law Office of J. Houston Gordon PLLC, Covington
•    The Law Offices of Tony Seaton PLLC, Johnson City

The Pro Bono Policy Initiative is one element of a multi-faceted campaign by TBA to educate the legal profession and the public on the need for increased free legal services in the state, and find new ways for lawyers to participate in pro bono service. There are now nearly 70 firms that have adopted a pro bono policy.
