NASHVILLE, June 20, 2013 — Nine Tennessee lawyers took office as new members of the Tennessee Bar Association Board of Governor's at the board’s meeting last weekend.

Chancellor Jerri S. Bryant joins the board as the representative of the Tennessee Judicial Conference. Bryant is serving as president of the conference this year. She is a chancellor in Athens serving the 10th Judicial District of Tennessee.

James R. “Jim” Cartiglia, an attorney with Waddey & Patterson in Nashville, joins the board as one of two governors representing Middle Tennessee. He handles intellectual property matters and has helped clients file more than 1,000 patent applications in a wide variety of technologies.

Memphis lawyer Brian S. Faughnan joins the board as one of two governors representing West Tennessee. Faughnan is special counsel with Thomason Hendrix Harvey Johnson & Mitchell where he handles business litigation, legal malpractice defense, First Amendment law and media law. He previously served on the board from 2009-2012 and is chair of the TBA’s Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

Erin D. McArdle joins the board as the 1st District Governor. She works for the District Attorney General in Jonesborough where she handles cases involving juveniles. In her position on the board, she represents lawyers in Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Unicoi, Sevier, Sullivan and Washington counties.  
    
Donna L. Pierce joins the board as the 4th District Governor. Pierce works for the University of the South in Sewanee where she handles employment law. In her position on the board, she represents lawyers in Bedford, Cannon, Clay, Coffee, DeKalb, Fentress, Franklin, Grundy, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Marshall, Moore, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Rutherford, Sequatchie, Smith, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, White and Wilson counties.
    
Andrew S. Roskind is a lawyer in Knoxville with the firm of Pratt, Aycock & Associates. He joins the board as one of two governors representing East Tennessee. He practices in the areas of criminal defense, health and hospital law, corporate law and general civil matters.

Nashville attorney Gary C. Shockley joins the board as one of two governors representing Middle Tennessee. He practices law with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz and is leader of the firm’s Government Regulatory Actions Group. He handles antitrust, construction, environmental, health care and personal injury cases as well as white-collar criminal defense. Shockley has been an active member of the TBA, serving as chair of the Litigation Section and the Environmental Law Section in the past.

B. Campbell Smoot joins the board as the representative of the Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference. Smoot is serving as president of the conference this year. He is a public defender in Tullahoma, serving the 14th Judicial District.

Memphis lawyer Stacie S. Winkler joins the board as president elect of the TBA Young Lawyers Division. She will serve as president of the division in 2014-2015. Winkler works as in house counsel at the Regional Medical Center where she handles health and hospital law, torts and personal injury cases.

In addition, a number of members who completed their service on the board were recognized at the TBA’s Annual Convention last weekend in Nashville. They are:
